New Delhi [India], August 3 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar on Sunday slammed the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government for power cuts across the national capital region (NCR), alleging that the Chief Minister has “implemented the Uttar Pradesh model of the BJP in Delhi.”
The AAP leader stated that numerous areas across the NCR experience daily electricity cuts of 5-6 hours, including the residence of former CM Arvind Kejriwal, where power has been unavailable since 3 AM on Sunday.
“Since the BJP came to power in Delhi, the problem of electricity has been continuously increasing. Since 3:00 AM this morning, there has been no electricity at Arvind Kejriwal ji’s residence. The same situation is being observed in many areas of Delhi, where electricity is being cut for 5-6 hours daily. Rekha Gupta has implemented the Uttar Pradesh model of the BJP in Delhi,” Kakkar posted on X in Hindi.
Earlier on July 31, the AAP leader also alleged that there was no electricity, or even a power backup, in Delhi’s National TB hospital for around 3 hours.
“In Delhi, the National TB Hospital, which comes under the central government, has now started to have arrangements like those in Uttar Pradesh’s government hospitals. There was no electricity for three hours. There was no power backup for ventilators either. Extremely sad,” she mentioned in another post.
AAP leaders have been raising various issues, alleging that the Delhi government has been going back on their poll promises, while also failing to maintain infrastructure and schemes across the capital.
AAP leader Kakkar has also claimed of ‘mismanagement’ in the Safdarjung hospital, showing a purported video of the hospital’s parking being flooded after rains lashed part of the region.
“Due to the mismanagement of the BJP government in Delhi, the condition of Safdarjung Hospital, under central control, has become deplorable,” the AAP leader said.
Earlier on Saturday, party’s Delhi state president, Saurabh Bharadwaj has also criticised the proposed Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Bill 2025, which is set to be tabled in the Assembly soon.
Bharadwaj claimed the bill is a direct assault on parents and a bonanza for private schools. He warned that the law is tailor-made to “protect the education mafia” and demanded answers from the Chief Minister and Education Minister on how arbitrary hikes will be rolled back and why audit mechanisms were deliberately erased.
“When the new academic session for private schools began on April 1, almost every school increased their fees. Some schools even raised it by as much as 80 to 82 per cent. We saw parents protesting outside schools like DPS Dwarka for several days, shouting slogans against the administration. Children were harassed,” he said during a press conference.
The party has also repeatedly criticised the Delhi government for the demolition drives being ordered across various regions, alleging that the BJP-led government has gone back on their promise of giving permanent residences to the people. (ANI)
